Microbiology Lab Technician
Bethlehem, PA Bethlehem, PA Full-time Full-time $19 - $21 an hour $19 - $21 an hour 10 days ago 10 days ago 10 days ago Contract microbiology laboratory seeks applicants with scientific rigor and discipline to test pharmaceutical products, excipients, and environmental samples (air, water, and surfaces) for microbiological quality.
FOCUS Laboratories will train the proper candidate in USP methodologies and current Good Manufacturing and Documentation Practices.
Performs quality control testing on clients' samples, once training is completed and proficiency is demonstrated.
Tests will vary based on laboratory need and technician's capabilities but may include microbial enumeration tests, microbial qualification tests, particulate counts, container closure integrity testing, endotoxin testing by gel clot or kinetic method, growth promotion, media fill reading and sterility testing both conventional and rapid.
Document all data in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined in 21CFR210 and211.
Immediately report any Out of Specification (OOS) results or Deviation from procedures (planned or unplanned) to Supervisor or Quality Assurance.
Assists in the investigations generated from these events.
Perform all quality functions necessary to run an efficient and effective laboratory, such as but not limited to:
clean glassware, monitor temperatures, disinfection of hoods and benches, processing waste (daily garbage, biohazardous and chemical waste), perform environmental monitoring in laboratory, and mop floors Qualify laboratory equipment as necessary, utilizing data loggers and other devices to map temperature, pressure, and humidity.
Maintain culture collection; prepare growth support culture and other inoculation cultures Prepare microbiological media and perform the requisite quality control tests on prepared media.
Receive incoming material according to procedures.
Follow all safety procedures, use appropriate PPE where required.
Position requires a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Biology along with demonstrated laboratory experience at an accredited college or university.
