Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

Operating under the general guidance of the Director of Technical Operations, the Manager, Maintenance Services, provides managerial direction and technical leadership for Maintenance, Metrology, and the Facility in relation to (1) GMP Manufacturing areas and process equipment, (2) GMP utilities and HVAC systems, (3) calibration and (4) general facility operations including office and lab spaces, for the Bethlehem site. The Maintenance Services Manager has overall responsibility and accountability for all aspects of Maintenance and Metrology for the entire facility by providing leadership, guidance and organization to the Maintenance Services team.

Ensures areas are in a full state of readiness and compliance at all times. Responsible for ensuring consistent, safe and environmentally conscious practices, while implementing continuous improvement initiatives to achieve cost effective, reliable project outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate in a safe and environmentally clean manner; communicate and support site safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Direct work assignments and ensure training for personnel in Maintenance Services.
  • Monitor productivity, motivating personnel to improve productivity as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate work with impacted areas to provide the most cost-effective and appropriate service.
  • Schedule and oversee contract services for maintenance, repair and metrology.
  • Develop and maintain metrics appropriate for areas of responsibility. Monitor and report status of overdue/open work orders.
  • Develop and maintain department standards for facility, equipment and procedures.
  • Ensure facility and team are compliant with all relavant regulatory, GMP and internal SOPs.
  • Update maintenance databases and provide weekly updates to Technical Operations and Operations management.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment and facility failures, including those involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
  • Monitor and control replacement parts utilization for all facilities and process equipment. Maintain spare parts inventory, where appropriate, to ensure continued site function.
  • Recommend and manage small projects, as needed.
  • Maintain a positive work environment/culture that fosters efficiency, effectiveness and high morale while ensuring that all employees are treated fairly and equitably.
  • Train, monitor, encourage and assist in the development of direct reports and utilize the PCM process at least annually.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience, and
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associates degree in Facilities Maintenance or related technical/mechanical field from an accredited university or trade school.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a maintenance position in a regulated industry (pharma, food, medical device etc).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of GMP documentation requirements in a regulated industry, including but not limited to GDP, predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration and work orders.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics, pipe-fitting, metal fabrication, welding, lubrication, compressors/refrigeration, shop tools and precision machine tools
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Experience with construction and/or maintenance activities planning
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; displays professionalism; experience with conflict resolution
  • High energy; positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently; honest and trustworthy
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Considered a Plus:

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited university
  • Professional Licensure
  • Experience in a regulated industry

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing/able to work in a plant environment.
  • Work on ladders, lifts, roofs, and confined spaces.
  • Work may occur around chemicals, nuisance odors, and noise from operating areas.
  • Must be willing/able to be exposed to inclement weather while moving throughout the plant during the work day as required.
  • Ability to lift/carry/move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift/carry/move up to 75 pounds.
  • May require standing for extended periods of time.
  • Expected to wear all required PPE.
  • Safely work independently and around others by following all required procedures.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
